BIG SPRING - Howard County commissioners voted to approve the new fiscal year budget for 2010-2011 after no one spoke at the public hearing Monday morning.

Commissioners voted unanimously to approve the $15.1 million for the new fiscal year that begins October 1. The vote did not include the new tax rate. That will be on the next meeting agenda for commissioners approval.

The proposed tax rate for Howard County is 0.522404, which is slightly less than the current year.

The new rate will bring in the same approximate revenue as 2010, according to Howard County auditor Jackie Olson.
