MIDLAND - It's an annual event aimed at raising money for children suffering from Muscular Dystrophy. While many people were out enjoying their day off on Monday, others decided to donate their free time for this good cause.

The annual MDA telethon took place on Monday and many volunteers showed up and donated their time. The big event was held at the Clarion Hotel in Midland and more than 60 volunteers showed up to lend a hand. The telethon started early Monday morning at 5:00a.m. on NewsWest 9 and ended on Monday evening.

Many volunteers were sent by local businesses to answer phones and help in any way possible but to many the telethon is more than just a yearly tradition. The Labor Day telethon brings many people from West Texas together and volunteers are always happy to donate their time for such a good cause.
