It's not a tax hike, but it is a change.
On Monday, Ector County Commissioners will hold the first of two public hearings on a proposed new tax rate.
County Judge Susan Redford is proposing a rate of 35.6 cents per hundred dollar property tax evaluation.
While that is below the current rate, it is above the effective rate, keeping tax revenues the same as last year.
If property values continue to go up residents could pay a bit more, even if the tax rate drops.
The first public hearing will be on Monday, August 30th, at 10:00 a.m. at the County Annex Building on 8th Street.
The second is set for Thursday, September 2nd at 6:00p.m.
