KERMIT - A former Kermit Police Officer is out of jail after being arrested by the Texas Rangers.
James Slayton was arrested in Kermit on Thursday on charges of official oppression.
You will remember, Slayton, a seven year veteran with the Kermit Police Department, resigned earlier this year after it was announced that he was being investigated by the Texas Rangers.
Authorities are being tight lipped and have not released any details of the investigation.
Slayton was released from jail Wednesday evening after posting a $500.00 bond.
