MIDLAND - It's a waiting game now for about 40 Midland customers who lost power on Wednesday afternoon, thanks to a tall city dump truck.

ONCOR Electric tells NewsWest 9, the power should be back on by midnight.

They have to reset five power poles knocked down by the truck.

The lights went out in the neighborhood, near the intersection of Fairgrounds and Scharbauer Drive, a little after 3:00p.m.

City officials say the truck had delivered its load but didn't lower the bed before driving off.

The truck caught a telephone line, took out four main poles and knocked out another pole across the street.

That sparked a couple of small grassfires but they were put out pretty fast.

No one was hurt.

The remaining 40 customers will be in the dark for the next several hours.

Fairgrounds Road between Golf Course and Scharbauer will be closed to traffic while crews repair the power poles.
