MIDLAND - We're learning more about the charges a former Midland Freshman secretary is facing amid allegations that she stole thousands from the school.
Turns out she's facing federal charges.
40-year-old Anette Fitzhugh has already posted bond in federal court and is back on the street.
That's after she was picked up on Tuesday by U.S. Marshals on embezzlement charges.
MISD officials believe Fitzhugh stole thousands during the last school year.
The total amount is believed to be more than $60,000.
Federal authorities tell NewsWest 9, Fitzhugh was essentially writing checks on the school activity fund check book and forging the proper signature.
If she's convicted on the embezzlement charge, she could spend 10 years in federal prison.
School officials say she resigned back in may when the allegations first surfaced.
