Fort Stockton Woman, Grandson Killed in South Dakota Crash

SOUTH DAKOTA - A Fort Stockton woman and one of her grandsons were killed in a collision between a semi and a pickup in South Dakota.

The Highway Patrol says 54-year-old Cheryl Self and three of her grandchildren were passengers in the semi, which crossed the Interstate and slammed into the oncoming pickup on Friday afternoon.

Officials say Self and 13-year-old Christopher Mielke died in the crash.

The other children, ages 11 and 5, suffered minor injuries.

The semi driver, 67-year-old John Self, also of Ft. Stockton had serious injuries but they were not life-threatening.
