ODESSA - The Odessa Police Department and the Union Pacific Railroad teamed up on a sting on Wednesday morning.
The two organizations teamed up for "Operation Care" or Crossing Accident Reduction Enforcement.
It's designed to raise public awareness about the dangers at railroad crossings.
From 7:00a.m. to 11:00a.m., officers wrote up 12 citations for railroad related violations but ended up writing a lot more for other violations like no insurance, license or seat belts.
Officials just want everyone to be extra careful around these areas.
Highway-rail crossing collisions are the second leading cause of rail-related deaths.
