BIG SPRING - A drug awareness program is coming to Big Spring, thanks to a local man who picked up trash to get rid of it.

Pastor Ken McKintosh, of the First Christian Church in Big Spring, spent his Spring Break collecting trash from around the community.

He wanted to tackle two problems with one stone.

McKintosh wanted to help start a drug awareness program and he also wanted to help clean up the city.

Residents donated money for every trash bag he filled up.

McKintosh raised $2,500.

He'll hand over the cash to Goliad Intermediate for a drug awareness program later this month.
