ECTOR COUNTY - New details on a car chase in Ector County that ended in gunfire.
The Texas Rangers are now questioning the man behind the wheel before they file any charges.
This all began around 10:00a.m. Sunday morning with a call about a reckless driver.
Deputies found that car at 50th and Andrews Highway.
When they tried to stop the car, we're told the driver took off, leading authorities on a chase that ended at Loop 338, two miles south of the Interstate.
Investigators tell NewsWest 9, the driver tried to get away by backing into the deputies' patrol car.
That's when deputies fired at him.
One of the bullets hit the suspect, who is now in stable condition in the Intensive Care Unit at Medical Center Hospital.
Deputies plan to file charges against the driver on Tuesday.
Right now, his name is not being released.
No deputies were hurt.
