MIDLAND - Midland Memorial Hospital is getting ready for an electrical and cooling system shutdown this weekend.

It's all being done to replace the outdated system.

Hospital Staff have been preparing for the shutdown and a plan is in place to minimize staff and patient discomfort.

The shutdown will begin at 8:00p.m. Saturday night and is expected to last 18-24 hours.

Backup power and chillers will be used to power and cool critical areas of the hospital including medical equipment.

This is part of the construction for the new patient tower and is the largest shutdown planned for the project.

The new system will cool and power the current hospital as well as the new patient tower.
