ODESSA - A Permian high school teacher is closer to getting canned after accusations he had a relationship with a student.
The Ector County School Board has accepted the Superintendent's recommendation to fire 41-year-old Robert Young.
You may remember, Young was arrested at his Midland home last month on charges of having an improper relationship with a student.
We're told the 18-year-old graduated this year.
Tuesday night's vote is the first step in terminating Young's employment with the school district.
The district has 15 days to notify Young.
Then Young has a chance to respond.
He could ask for a hearing, which could take up to three months.
Young has been on administrative leave since his arrest.
