Odessa Man Turns Himself in to Police in Connection With a Deadly Crash

ODESSA - An Odessa man faces serious charges after a July 4th weekend accident turns deadly.

Police tell NewsWest 9, 20-year-old Aramondo Casas Junior turned himself to the Ector County Jail on Wednesday morning.

The was wanted in connection with a late night crash on July 3rd that put his passenger, 24-year-old Michael Shawn Gonzales in the hospital.

Gonzales died from the injures on Sunday.

The wreck happened around one in the morning, near the intersection of Andrews Highway and 23rd Street.

Police say Casas drove into some standing water, at a high rate of speed, causing the vehicle to hydroplane.

His vehicle spun, hit a light pole then flipped over on its top.

Gonzales struggled with his injuries for more than a week before he ultimately died.

Another passenger was in the car darning the accident, but was not injured.
