MIDLAND - It's a much anticipated project in Downtown Midland.
After more than a year of construction, the new 'Lofts on Main' are getting ready to open.
"It's 2100 square feet and one unit has an office. We did tiles in the shower and they have a Jacuzzi," Owner Josh Hopkins, said.
Hopkins wanted to have the Lofts completed months ago, but he didn't realize working with a structure built in 1909 would be so challenging.
"We took a break to wrap ourselves on the financial setback but now we're up and running. I expect to have them completed in the next 45 days," Hopkins said.
Builders reused a lot of the original material to keep the historic value but to also have less of an impact on the environment.
"We kept the original framing," Hopkins said. "It's an old 1909 building and we wanted to keep the historic figure in Midland."
