MIDLAND - The initial plan for the Midland Humane Coalition was to start the adoption center later this year, but after our story aired on Tuesday, PetSmart decided to start the adoption sooner rather than later.
This Saturday the Midland Humane Coalition will hold its first adoption at PetSmart.
NewsWest 9 first told you about the decision for PetSmart and the Humane Coalition to team up.
The plan is to clear out a space in the store to make way for a permanent no kill adoption center. The decision is still in the planning stages, but PetSmart managers agreed this weekend is the best time to start the adoptions for the coalition.
If this passes, Midland will be the second city working in partnership with PetSmart on this type of project. Right now, the only one other store doing the same thing is in the Dallas/ Fort Worth area.
Once it is passed, PetSmart wants to complete the project by the end of this year.
