MIDLAND/ODESSA - The heavy rains made some roads in the Basin look more like a river on Tuesday morning.
In Odessa, the westbound lane of Highway 80 just outside of East Loop 338 was completely covered with water from the Sunchase Apartments all the way across the service road into part of the east bound lane.
Officials had to shut down the westbound lane until the waters receded.
Over by the Music City Mall, you could see the water running off Penbrook across tangle wood and into the drainage area.
Penbrook is one of the streets that fills up fast when the rain starts coming down, but that didn't stop some drivers from trying to plow on through.
And the usual spots in Midland became trouble spots for drivers.
Golf Course Road turned into a river between Midkiff all the way to "A" Street.
NewsWest 9 didn't spot any cars that had stalled because of the deep water, but emergency crews were called out help out a few stranded motorists.
