Man Under Observation After Firing a Shot in His Home

ODESSA - Neighbors forced to lock their doors after Odessa Police surround a home.

Now, a man's under observation after firing a shot in his home.

It happened here in the 1600 block of Nabors.

Police tell NewsWest 9, they were called by a woman who had locked herself in the bathroom.

She called for help after her husband fired off a gunshot in their home.

When officers arrived, they told nearby Neighbors to stay inside and blocked off the street.

Police spent a little more than an hour trying to coax the husband out of the home.

Just as they called for the SWAT team, they managed to get him out safely.

Once he was out, officers were able to get his wife and she's ok.

Police tell NewsWest 9, the man woke up from a nap and became excited, that's when he shot a round from the gun.

We're told officers are looking into whether his medication may have played a role in his behavior.
