Alpine Man Sentenced For Threatening Border Patrol Agent

ALPINE - An Alpine man is heading to the big house after being caught with drugs and making threats to a border patrol agent.

30-year-old Jason Murrell was sentenced to 18 months in a federal prison.

He plead guilty to having pot and threatening a Border Patrol Agent and his family.

A drug sniffing dog caught Murrell at the Alpine checkpoint.

Border Patrol Agents repeatedly asked him to leave his car, but he refused.

About 45 minutes, Brewster County Deputies showed up and were able to talk him out.

In addition to prison time, Murrell faces a hefty fine and probation.
