ALPINE - An Alpine baseball player will likely return to his hometown after being attacked late last week.

Trey George, who plays for the Big Bend Cowboys, and four other players were attacked and jumped Thursday outside a club in Alpine.

The Cowboy's General Manager says George was taken to Medical Center Hospital in Odessa.

His family is now in town and they're trying to get George to Houston to meet with doctors there.

The Alpine Police Department is still investigating the attack.

George was the MVP for the Continental Baseball League last year.

The Cowboys say they don't know if he'll be able to play again.
