A check-cashing scam is spreading through-out the Basin.

The Midland Police Department is warning local businesses and banks to keep their eyes peeled for some fake checks.

Investigators say several people are passing the bogus checks, racking up more than $15,000.

Detectives with the White Collar Division say business names like Key Energy, Rockwood Manor, Trinity Haven and Savanna Drilling are printed on the checks.

Several people are suspected to be collaborating in the scam, but a forgery warrant has been issued for 37-year-old Veronica Rivas.

If you have any information or think you've been given one of the fake checks, call Midland Police at 685-7108.
