New details on a Midland County Commissioner who's lucky to be alive after crash landing in Houston on Thursday.

Precinct 2 Commissioner Robert Donnelly was the pilot of a single engine airplane that took off from Odessa and ran out of fuel on the way to Bush Intercontinental Airport.

He tried to land his plane in a nearby field, but came up short.

On the way down, the plane clipped a few trees and power lines and eventually crashed into the back of a roofing business.

Donnelly amazingly only suffered a broken nose and will have reconstructive surgery next week in Houston.

No one else was hurt in the accident.
