MIDLAND - This weekend is expected to be one of the busiest weekends of the summer, and that's why the Midland Police Department will have extra patrols on the streets to make sure everyone stays out of trouble.

"It's usually busy during the summer since kids are out of school, and they'll be more people celebrating graduation, so we just want to make sure we're there in case someone makes a bad decision to hurt themselves or somebody else," Sgt. Kyle Sullivan, with the Midland Police Department, said.
Authorities want to remind folks that if they're going to be out drinking this weekend to make sure they have a safer option of getting home safe.

"We obviously don't want to promote people drinking, but if they choose to, don't get behind the wheel of a car and that goes for everybody. They should always have a designated driver," Sgt. Sullivan said.

Drivers can expect to see more officers on the streets all summer.
