BIG SPRING - It was a show down in Big Spring, wrestlers from around the world put on a show in an effort to raise money.
The Big Spring basketball program needed help raising money and this time they decided to think outside the box to get it. Bodies flying, crowds cheering, and all of this coming together for good cause.
"The guy called me and said he wanted to bring a different kind of event, and he said it was some wrestling matches that have been good at some other schools and have been successful," Big Spring Coach, Phillip Ritchey, said.
So this year Big Spring high school decided to bring in more than 16 professional wrestlers from Mexico and all over the U.S.
"A lot of people are excited. Me too, when I was a kid, I loved watching wrestling. This is a fulfillment of a lifelong dream," Ritchey said.
And in just a matter of hours, the Big Spring gym was transformed to a wrestling ring, but the wrestling will go a long way outside the ring.
"Our girls basketball summer programs they go to some team camps and they get all those funds to help a lot of the kids with expenses and travel," Ritchey said.
And the wrestlers are happy to take time out of their schedules to help out.
"I feel reel good doing this. I like to do this. This is my job, and with my job if I can help people like this and do things like this, it's great for me," Wrestler, Freddy Krueger, said.
