EUNICE, NEW MEXICO - A series of new improvements in the city of Eunice not only changed the street level, but are making some big changes underground.
City leaders tell NewsWest 9, they're spending about five million dollars and replacing almost all of the waterlines running underneath Eunice.
Also on the agenda is the new waste water treatment plant.
Construction will continue throughout the summer and it will be fully operational by September.
But while engineers reconstruct underground, their downtown project is changing the way Eunice looks on the surface.
Officials shut down Main Street for two months while they re-surfaced the roads, added sidewalks, trees and 30 new street lights.
That project will be completed by the end of June.
