An Odessa woman makes a plea deal in the shooting death of a central Texas soldier.

24-year-old April Danielle Thompson was sentenced to six years in prison.

Thompson says she accidentally shot 20-year old Cody Ryan Patterson in October of 2009.

Patterson was on leave from Iraq.

Thompson said the two were playing with a gun; she thought was unloaded at Patterson's mother's home in Blum, Texas.
She said she pointed the gun at Patterson's chest and pulled the trigger.

Thompson fled the scene and was later arrested in Glen Rose, Texas.

She was charged with manslaughter.
