Hobbs Police Arrest Suspect in Connection with Deadly Shooting

HOBBS, NEW MEXICO - New details after a deadly shooting in Hobbs.

The Lea County Sheriff says they arrested 29-year-old Nicolas Ray Lopez this weekend.

Authorities tell NewsWest Nine, Lopez shot and killed 35-year-old Albert Ford Friday night in the 300 block of Teague.

They also found 34-year-old Sam Garcia, who had been shot twice.

Garcia was airlifted to Lubbock where he remains in critical, but stable condition.

Lopez faces one open count of murder, one count of attempted murder, intimidation of a witness and tampering with evidence charges.

He's being held on a $1 million bond.

The investigation is still ongoing.
