HOBBS, NEW MEXICO - After burning for almost a week, two fires in the Carlsbad Caverns National Park will be put out.

Over 2,500 acres were scorched when lightning from a storm sparked the blaze on Sunday.

Up to this point, fire officials have let it burn, but strong winds and dry conditions are pushing the flames closer to the park's boundary.

As a precaution, park officials have closed off some hiking trails.
