BIG SPRING - On Tuesday, the winner of a City Council race in Big Spring may finally be official.

Votes in the district five race will be recounted Tuesday morning at the courthouse.

Five people have been chosen to tally up the nearly 800 ballots.

Those people were chosen by the two candidates in the race, Troy Tompkins and Craig Olson.

Defeated incumbent Troy Tompkins asked for the recount after losing by only six votes.

They're hoping the votes will be counted by the time the city council meets at 5:30 on Tuesday.

If that doesn't happen, they will continue to recount on Wednesday, so the official winner can be sworn in later that day.
