ODESSA - It's been 8 years since a young girl drowned in a flood at the intersection of Muskingham and Grant.

Now one woman is starting a petition to get something done about the dangerous intersection.

Lucy Llanez started taking signatures to present to the Odessa City Council.

About 8 years ago, a young girl got trapped in the rushing water at the intersection and never made it out alive.

Llanez says she wants the city to put up more warning signs around the area to alert drivers and pedestrians of what could happen.

"Some people may be new to the area and not know that this intersection floods and they won't know what could happen to them because there are no signs," Llanez said.

Right now, there are yellow hazardous signs posted around that intersection to warn drivers of high water floods.

Llanez has been collecting signatures from her neighborhood but has not yet presented them to City Council.
