BIG SPRING - It's not over yet in Big Spring, at least as far as the district five city council seat is concerned.

Defeated incumbent Troy Tompkins filed a petition on Thursday to recount all of the votes in that race.

He lost Saturday's election against Craig Olson by 6 votes.

Now he wants all of the votes to be recounted, which means a committee will be formed to do the recount.

"It will provide an additional safeguard an additional layer, where a committee will be examined by a disinterested third party and they will take a look at the actual electronic ballots that will be a printout generated," District 5 City Council Candidate, Troy Tompkins, said.

The city has scheduled a meeting to canvass the votes on Tuesday night, and another on Wednesday in case all of the votes are not counted.

No matter what the outcome, the city will canvass the mayor's votes at Tuesday night's meeting.
