BIG SPRING - A shooting in Big Spring leaves one man injured and police investigation underway.

Police received a call around 4:00p.m. Wednesday afternoon after a caller said they had heard some shots being fired, but police are still trying to figure out how it happened.

When police showed up to the 1600 block of Cardinal, they found a man shot on his left side. Neighbors NewsWest 9 talked to said they did not hear anything. They didn't even know of anything that happened until a lady asked a neighbor to use the phone.

"She was calling the police, she took off rushing she said something he is not going to make it. I guess they are in the hospital," neighbor Jorge Luna, said.

The victim has been identified as 33-year-old Toby Porter. Porter was transported to Scenic Mountain Medical Center and is in critical condition.

Investigators are interviewing witnesses, but have yet to determine a motive for the shooting.
