A defamation lawsuit Clayton Williams filed against the Mayor of Fort Stockton has been dismissed. Both parties say it all comes down to a misunderstanding.
NewsWest 9 spoke with Fort Stockton Mayor Ruben Falcon who said the defamation case against him has been dismissed.
You might remember, back in December, Clayton Williams claimed the Mayor put the company in a bad light during a commissioners court meeting. Fort Stockton officials have been voicing their concerns about a water deal. The deal centers on William's company selling millions of gallons of water from his property in Pecos county. The city claims that will leave their hometown dry.
In a written statement from Mayor Falcon, he said he did not intend to imply Clayton Williams was abusing other property owner's water supply. He says he only meant to state the concerns from Fort Stockton neighbors about that water project.
