BIG SPRING - Six new volunteers took an oath on Wednesday in Big Spring to stand up court to help abused and neglected children.
CASA added the new members to help children in Howard County.
These new volunteers will assist children who currently don't have anyone to represent them in court.
Howard County has suffered with shortage of CASA volunteers.
Currently, 94 children are waiting for an advocate and of those, 58 children from Howard County.
"We do have a huge demand for volunteers here in Howard County. We need the community to know about that, so we hope that not only will these 6 volunteers take one case, but they will also tell their friends so that we can educate the community how much person impacts a child life," CASA Executive Director, Lily White, said.
The six volunteers that were sworn in on Wednesday immediately started working on their cases.
