MIDLAND COUNTY - Midland County Constable Charles "Choc" Harris is under investigation by the state agency that regulates peace officer licensing in Texas.

The Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Standards and Education tells NewsWest9 that Harris is under investigation, but would not comment on the nature of the investigation.

The TCLEOSE investigates matters related to the licensing of peace officers, jail workers and dispatchers in Texas. Executive Director Timothy Braaten tells NewsWest9 that his office does many of investigations each year. Some investigations can lead to administrative disciplinary action or charges from another agency.

The investigation was not expected to be completed in the near future.

NewsWest9 contacted Constable Harris, but he said he could not comment on the matter.

According to the Midland County website, Harris has worked in law enforcement since 1973. His online biography says he was awarded the Community Service Award by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Standards and Education for his outstanding community service to teen leadership and the community in 2005.
