Odessa Lawyer, Former Coach Indicted

ODESSA - A local lawyer and a former ECISD coach have been indicted by an Ector County Grand Jury.

Odessa attorney Brian Chavez and his brother Jacob, Rosemary Soto and Stanley Wilkins were indicted Monday on charges of burglary of a habitation with intent to commit assault.

The four were arrested back in October after allegedly forcing themselves into an Odessa home and assaulting the people inside.

Wilkins was a coach at Bowie Junior High School. He was reassigned from that campus after being arrested.

Ector County District Attorney Bobby Bland has excused himself in the case involving Odessa attorney Brian Chavez and three others.

Bland tells NewsWest 9, he has known some of the defendants for some time and doesn't want there to be any conflict of interest.
