Hobbs Man Leads Police on Chase

HOBBS, NEW MEXICO - The charges are mounting against a Hobbs man.

First, a woman claims he stole her Tahoe then he led a deputy on a chase, and then crashes the stolen car into another vehicle.

Authorities in Hobbs tell NewsWest 9, the crash happened Friday afternoon near the corner of Jefferson and Dunnam.

Officers report 24-year-old Mario Negrete was arrested there on an outstanding felony warrant.

A Hobbs woman had reported her Tahoe has stolen from her at gunpoint on Thursday night.

Then on Friday, a Lea County Deputy spotted the car but when he tried to pull Negrete over, he sped off.

At least two people were injured after he crashed into a van.

Several felony charges are pending against the suspect.
