Meeting Planned on Pumping of Water in Fort Stockton

FORT STOCKTON - Those for and against plans by oilman Clayton Williams to pump water from Pecos County to Midland will get their chance to speak out next week.

The Middle Pecos Groundwater Conservation District will be holding a public hearing at 10:00 Tuesday morning at the Large Community Hall at Rooney Park in Fort Stockton. You must attend this meeting if you wish to take part in future hearings on the matter.

Williams wants to pump 47,000 acre feet of water from his land near Fort Stockton to then sell or lease. Several cities and counties have already voiced their opposition to his plan saying it will deplete their water supply.
