ODESSA - The ambitious Parks Legado project got a shot in the arm on Tuesday night.
The Odessa City Council approved some incentives to get the shopping center off the ground.
Odessa Businessman Colin Sewell has proposed turning 68 acres on Highway 191 near Faudree Road into stores, restaurants, office space and housing.
On Tuesday night, the City Council decided to rebate 50 percent of the property taxes and 50 percent of the sales taxes for Parks Legado, up to 7.9 million dollars.
The city would like other taxing entities to get on board including the school district, Odessa College and Ector County.
The next step for Parks Legado will be to start building the infrastructure to support the project.
