MIDLAND/ODESSA - Get out your calendars, this month a number of big names and presentations are coming to West Texas.
It all starts on Monday as former Deputy Chief of Staff and Senior Advisor Karl Rove will be at the Midland Hastings on west Cuthbert.
Rove is on tour with his new book, Courage and Consequence, and will be at signing books from 3:00 to 5:00p.m.
In the book, Rove gives readers a behind the scenes look at his tenure with President Bush and his role in the White House.
UTPB also has a number of events upcoming this month.
On Thursday evening, they will hold a special remembrance for victims of the Holocaust.
Doctor Lionel Levison, whose family suffered during that time, will conclude the reading of names lost in the Holocaust.
In addition, there will be a presentation on the Holocaust.
It will be held on campus in the multipurpose room on the second floor of the Mesa Building.
On Tuesday, April 13th, UTPB will welcome Maya Angelou to their campus.
For those 1,200 people who got their tickets back in February, the event will be in the UTPB gym at 7:00p.m.
Unfortunately no other tickets will be issued.
The poet and civil rights advocate was originally to be part of UTPB's celebration of Black History Month.
And April 15th will mean more than just tax deadline.
Former U.S. House Speaker Newt Gingrich will speak as part of the Shepperd Institute's Distinguished Lecture in the UTPB gym.
Gingrich will discuss the current political climate in Washington and policy issues relevant to issues.
The event is free and open to the public.
