Presidio County Looking for Ways to Stop Future Fires

PRESIDIO COUNTY - Authorities in Presidio County are looking for ways to prevent future brush fires after a series of fires late last week.

The fires started in Mexico, but spread to salt cedar trees in Presidio County. The fires threatened several homes and burned a barn and miles of fencing near the Ruidosa community, which is up river from the town of Presidio.

Presidio County Judge Jerry Agan tells NewsWest9 that TexDot has created fire breaks in the area and the county might hold some brush management classes for residents in the future.

It is not known what started the fires on the Mexican side of the Rio Grande.
