PECOS - Pecos city leaders are starting at square one after a report came back doubling the price tag on a new waste water plant.

Pecos Mayor Richard Alligood tells NewsWest 9, this has been a shock.

The engineering firm looked at the site and found that additional work is needed at the location, adding up to 11.5 million dollars.

This Monday, Pecos city leaders are headed to Austin to meet with the TCEQ and a rate analysis company to figure out where to go from here.

For now, the city is hoping to find a way to keep the plant project moving forward.

They'll review the costs and look at alternative plans, then report back to the City Council.
