ODESSA - In a few weeks, the new Permian Basin Forensic Center will open its doors.
The new autopsy center is the first of its kind in our region and will allow autopsies to be performed locally.
Before bodies had to be taken to Tarrant County.
Law enforcement officials will now be able to witness an autopsy without taking a possible overnight trip, and in the long run, that will save taxpayer money.
"We understand we need to bring that professionalism, so counties around the region will choose to use us and feel comfortable using us. And in turn, save the counties a lot in transport costs," Carl Rogers with the Permian Basin Forensic Center, said.
The Center will service 43 counties in our region.
