PERMIAN BASIN - The grandparents scam is claiming more victims in the Permian Basin.

NewsWest 9 first told you about the scam a couple of weeks ago.

The victims are usually the elderly.

The scheme begins with someone callings pretending to be a grandson or niece saying they are in a situation, like car trouble, and are in need of help.
The scam artist arranges to pick-up the cash and the money is never seen again.

He's about 5'7" and 140 pounds.

He was last seen in a dark colored or royal blue car, possibly a Honda or Chevrolet.

Authorities are strongly encouraging you not to give any money to any one you don't know, unless you are sure a relative is in danger.

Anyone with information on the suspect is asked to call Midland Police or CrimeStoppers at 694-TIPS.
