ODESSA - An Odessa family makes a shocking discovery outside a Church, a man dead in a truck.
Now police are trying to figure what caused his death.
The discovery of 39-year old Odessa native Jimmy Ray Erwin forced police to block off parts of south Jackson Street for several hours on Sunday.
Police arrived on the scene around 1:00 p.m. Sunday afternoon after a neighborhood family called 9-1-1 after the man didn't respond when they tried to wake him.
Neighbors say they had seen Erwin in the area before and first noticed the truck was parked in Templo Betania Church's parking lot on Saturday night.
At this time, police say it doesn't look like there was foul play involved.
The man's family says they're shaken up by the news, but remember their loved one fondly.
"I just couldn't believe it I was completely blown away. We had a pretty good relationship I used to babysit him and his sister. He was good, funny and outgoing kid," Family Member, Mark Erwin, said.
