Two Latin King Members Found Guilty of Murder and Drug Trafficking

LUBBOCK - The trial lasted 7 days but it only took a Lubbock jury 45 minutes to determine their fate.

Jurors came back with a guilty verdict for the two Latin King gang members.     

Jose Nava and James Cole were found guilty of drug trafficking and murder.

The case dates back to 2008 when Valerie Garcia, her unborn child, and Michael Cardona were killed in a Big Spring drive-by shooting.

The two men were also found guilty for several drug crimes, including trafficking cocaine and marijuana throughout Texas. 

Nava is said to be the Latin King leader in Texas, and he was convicted on eight charges, and now faces life in prison.

Cole was convicted on five counts.      

After jurors made their decision, U.S. Marshals' filled the courtroom as a safety precaution.

No sentencing date has been set, but we'll keep you updated on what happens.
