Two Men Plead Guilty to Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon Charge

MIDLAND - Two men accused in a fatal shooting from last year made a plea deal.

19-year-old Melvin Lenard and 22-year-old James Braziel, pleaded guilty to one charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

The pair had been indicted by a Midland grand jury for first degree murder in the shooting death of Jermaine Swearington.

22-year-old Miguel Chatman was found guilty of murder last month and sentenced to 75 years behind bars.

Lenard and Braziel will serve 15 years as part of their deal.
