MIDLAND - Walking or biking to three Midland schools will soon get a lot safer for your kids.

Fannin Elementary, Emerson Elementary, and Goddard Junior High are all receiving more than $5,000 in grant money to make the improvements.

The cash is coming from the "Safe Routes to School" program.

The money will be used to upgrade things like sidewalks, crosswalks, and bicycle lanes.
Schools in Stanton and Pecos also received the grant and have started their improvements.
