LEA COUNTY, NEW MEXICO - When the calls go out, Lea County officials have a new way of letting everyone know.

The Department of Homeland Security handed Lea County almost $400,000 to install sirens not only in the cities, but out in rural areas.

It's the first time EMS crews will be able to connect with anyone in danger.

The sirens can alert severe weather, amber alerts, and grassfire threats.
