Authorities to Undergo Training to Help Prevent Oilfield Theft

ALPINE - Local law enforcement is stepping up their efforts to stop oil field theft.

The Midland County Sheriff's Office is joining the FBI, the Texas Rangers, and the Energy Security Council for two days of training.

The classes at Sul Ross University will focus on identifying stolen oil field equipment.

Some 200 officers from the Big Bend region and the Permian Basin will attend those classes starting on Wednesday.
