GAINES COUNTY - It hasn't been an easy year for the Gaines County Jail.
After voters turned down building a new one, the structure started falling into serious disrepair.
Now, it's been de-certified by the Jail Standards Commission.
After an inspection, officials told the county if they don't fix the problems, they will no longer be allowed to hold inmates.
The Judge tells NewsWest 9 that cost is about $300,000.
Money he says they'll have to pull out of the county's reserves.
Right now, portions of the jail are shut down waiting on repairs.
The jail currently holds about 25 inmates, and the rest are housed in surrounding jails.
